Submissions accepted from writers
throughout Southern California.
Deadline: July 1, 2009
Guidelines for 2009
1. Short 10-minute or one-act
plays only. (No musicals or children's theater.)
2. Deadline: July 1, 2009.
3. There is no entry fee. Each
entrant may submit up to three short plays. No scripts will be
returned.
4. Cash prizes:
l 1st Place:
$100
l 2nd Place:
$75
l 3rd Place:
$50
5. There's More! Even if you
don't win a cash prize, an additional group of playwrights beyond
the top three will be selected for the same process of a reading,
followed by a discussion.
6. Please Note:
Do not submit your script unless you are willing to attend the
public reading in San Diego. If your play wins, you MUST
attend the reading in order to accept your prize. (Sorry, no
exceptions.)
7. Entries are judged anonymously.
Follow these directions:
A. No scripts will be returned!
B. E-mail submissions (preferred
method):
l Submit a single PDF or MS Word document with all
contact information.
l (We will delete identifying info from judge's
copies.)
l E-mail to: The Scripteasers @ msn . com (without
spaces)
C. Hard copy submissions:
l List play title only on the cover page.
l Include a separate sheet of paper with title and
contact information.
l Mail script and contact sheet to:

The Scripteasers will:
8. Treat your work with respect
and confirm receipt of your entry. (For receipt of hard copy
entries, please enclose SASP/SASE.)
9. Notify you of the results
of the competition.
10. Work with selected playwrights
to arrange a reading date.
Small Print Department:
l Competition is open
only to playwrights in Southern California.
l Plays that have been previously
produced or published are ineligible.
l Script must follow standard
dramatic formatting. For samples, check the internet ("playwriting
format"). Here is a site you may find helpful: www.playwriting101.com.
l The Scripteasers reserves
the right not to award a prize if in its opinion, no submission
is worthy.
l Decision of the judging
panel is final. No private feedback on individual plays can be
provided.
