The somber mood changes when emotions ignite. The event submerges into dark humor and emerges with a liberating feeling. About the Author… Elizabeth K. Hironaka grew up in Northern California and lived most of her adult life back east where she exhibited paintings, photographs and taught classes. Since relocating to San Diego she has written short stories, poems and several short plays. THE FERTILIZER TOUCH, by Kathleen McLaughlin A husband arrives home after betraying his wife and step-son only to discover his wife has taken control of their environmental business. Now, he needs a place to stay and a job. But, his wife now holds the hazardous waste shovel he needs to dig himself out of the latrine. About the Author… Kathleen McLaughlin has had an interest in the theatre since she was dragged to her older sister's theatre rehearsals. Although she's been a writer for many years, she began writing plays about seven years ago. Since then she has won several contests and has had plays produced around the country. YOU SAY POTATO AND NO ONE GETS HURT, by James Reynolds Two mysterious men meet at night on an empty dock. One delivers a suspicious "potato sack," interrupted by an even more mysterious woman from the Idaho Department of Agriculture's elite Spud Squad. Can she pressure one of them into turning state's evidence? About the Author… After serving as an Army Lieutenant in Vietnam, Jim made his living as a registered architect. Jim acted in or designed sets for over 30 community theater plays. A member of the Dramatists Guild of America, Jim lives with his wife Mary in Chula Vista.
